Seye Famojuro’s Influence Overrated, He’s Not Politically Powerful — Olopoeyan
A chieftain of the Allied People‘s Movement (APM), Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, has described the political influence of Seye Famojuro as overrated, saying his closeness to Governor Seyi Makinde should not be mistaken for political strength.
Olopoeyan said Famojuro should stop using his closeness to the governor to measure his own political power.
He spoke during an interview with Peter Olasupo, popularly known as Captain P2.
According to Olopoeyan, many politicians go to Famojuro because they know he is close to Governor Makinde, not because he has his own political structure or grassroots support.
“If you ask Seye Famojuro about me, he cannot say he is a leader to someone like me because he is not a politician.
“No. He is ‘omo-odo’ (Houseboy) in Makinde’s house. The politicians and some other people who seek help from Makinde through him are doing so because they know he is close to the governor.
“He sleeps and wakes up in the same house the governor lives in. So, I don’t blame those people,” Olopoeyan said.
He said Famojuro’s closeness to Makinde has made people believe whatever he claims the governor says even if the governor does not says so.
“That is why if he says the governor said something, people will believe him because of his closeness.
“But someone like me cannot believe that because I speak with the governor directly. I don’t go through him,” he said.
Olopoeyan also mentioned some other people close to the governor, saying their relationship with Makinde does not automatically make them politicians with independent power.
“Now, look at his Personal Assistant, Akeem Azeez, he stays in his personal house. Wasiu Adeleke stays in his personal house. Even Double Tee stays in his own house too. But if he leaves Makinde’s house to stay alone elsewhere and the people who go to him currently still go to his house, that’s when I will believe he is powerful politically,” he said.
Olopoeyan concluded that whatever influence Famojuro is enjoying comes from his closeness to Governor Makinde.
“So, whatever political power or influence Famojuro is using, it belongs to Makinde. It is not as if he has any special power,” he said.
