Nigerian comedian and activist, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has appreciated his well wishers, friends and supporters after veteran actor, Pa Peter Fatomilola, revealed that the comedian gave him ₦1 million after a film job, alongside ₦200,000 for transportation.

Mr Macaroni reacted to messages from people recounting how he had supported them at different times, saying many of the acts of kindness mentioned were things he could no longer remember. He said the testimonies left him emotional and reminded him to appreciate God for seeing him through a difficult period.

“I cried so much last night and this morning. I have seen lots of messages from different people about things I did for them at different times, most of which I don’t even remember,” he said.

“The truth is I have always believed in my heart that the only reason God has given to me is to give it back. I think this is God’s way of telling me to also be thankful. I have been thinking too much about what I lost instead of thanking God for seeing me through one of the hardest moments of my life,” the comedian added.

Mr Macaroni explained that he was accustomed to giving rather than receiving because people often assumed he had enough. He also disclosed that he had always found it difficult to ask for assistance, saying he usually repaid borrowed money with interest even when the lender did not demand it.

He, however, said he faced serious financial difficulties in recent years, during which he sought help from different people and reached a point where he contemplated giving up.

“I was tested in ways I couldn’t understand these past few years. I asked for help everywhere and anywhere I could think of and I was on the verge of giving it all up!” he said.

Mr Macaroni also expressed gratitude to an unnamed individual who, according to him, repeatedly came to his assistance and eventually settled all his outstanding debts, describing the intervention as something he believed was made possible by God.

“God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I don’t think any sane person would do what he did for me without God’s intervention! So this is me also saying thank you Brother! And I will continue to do so again and again, privately and publicly,” he stated.

The comedian also thanked his close associates, whom he referred to as “Mr Macaroni & Friends,” for standing by him, as well as music executive Don Jazzy, whom he said had supported him since his university days.

He further appreciated footballer Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji for their support, saying he was now in a better place and was learning to focus on things that made him happy.

Mr Macaroni said he did not regret the things he had done to improve the lives of others, adding that his experiences over the past few years had taught him important lessons and given him greater clarity.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the trials he had experienced and calling for greater love and kindness, saying, “May the love in our hearts be forever greater than the hate in the world.”
