The club returned home after emerging champions of the Oyo State Challenge Cup and the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League, further strengthening the state’s growing reputation in grassroots and women’s football.
At a reception held at the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, received the club’s management and players as they formally presented the trophies to the government.
The victories were described as a reflection of Governor Seyi Makinde’s sustained investment in sports development, youth empowerment, and talent discovery across Oyo State.
Speaking at the event through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sunday Akinwale Moradeyo, the commissioner congratulated the team for its outstanding achievement, describing the triumph as proof of what can be accomplished when government support is complemented by dedication, discipline, and teamwork.
She noted that the Makinde administration has consistently positioned sports as a strategic tool for youth development, social inclusion, and economic empowerment, adding that the club’s success further validates the government’s vision for the sector.
“You have demonstrated that champions are made through discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Do not relent because this is only the beginning of greater accomplishments,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Team Manager, Prince Babatunde Adegorowa, expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his unwavering support and commitment to sports development in the state.
He said the club’s victories in both the Oyo State Challenge Cup and the IFA League were made possible by the enabling environment created by the present administration.
Prince Adegorowa assured the government that the team would continue to uphold its winning tradition and strive to bring more honours to Oyo State in future competitions.
The trophy presentation served not only as a celebration of Pacesetter Queens’ remarkable achievements but also as a testament to the state’s deliberate investment in sports, which continues to nurture young talents, produce champions, and strengthen Oyo State’s position as a major force in Nigerian football.
