Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, continued his blistering start to the new Süper Lig season, scoring twice and providing an assist as defending champions Galatasaray thrashed newly promoted Erzurumspor FK 4-0 at the Kazım Karabekir Stadium on Friday.

Roland Sallai opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Osimhen turned provider eight minutes later, setting up Yunus Akgün to double Galatasaray’s advantage.

Osimhen then got on the scoresheet himself in first-half stoppage time, putting the visitors 3-0 ahead at the break before completing his brace in the 80th minute to seal another emphatic victory for the Turkish champions.

The Nigerian forward has now directly contributed to at least one goal in each of his last 14 league matches for Galatasaray, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists during that remarkable run.

Osimhen also scored twice in Galatasaray’s opening-day 2-2 draw against fellow newly promoted side Çorum last week, meaning he has already found the net four times in his first two league appearances of the season.

His impressive form has reportedly attracted renewed interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal said to have opened talks with Galatasaray over a possible move for the striker.

Osimhen contributed 30 goal involvements for Galatasaray last season and remains under contract with the Turkish champions until 2029.

However, negotiations are still at an early stage, with the striker’s reported €20 million net annual salary potentially proving a major obstacle to a move to Arsenal.
