Nigerian Army Opens Applications For 2027 Short Service Combatant Commission
The Nigerian Army has opened applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027 for eligible Nigerians, including qualified civilians and serving military personnel.
The Army, in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, said successful candidates would be commissioned into the Combat Arms and Combat Support Arms of the Nigerian Army.
According to the statement, the Combat Arms comprise Infantry and Armour, while the Combat Support Arms include Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence Corps.
The Army urged prospective applicants to apply through its official recruitment portal, nashortservice.army.mil.ng, select the SSCC option and carefully follow the application guidelines.
It warned applicants against unauthorized recruitment portals and fake announcements, advising them to rely solely on official Nigerian Army channels for accurate information on the exercise.
The Army also encouraged prospective applicants to watch out for official recruitment jingles on television and radio stations following the commencement of the recruitment exercise.
The application window will close on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The Army urged qualified Nigerians interested in serving the country to take advantage of the opportunity and complete their applications before the deadline.
