2027: Dikko Salami Hosts Oyo Youth Parliament, Online Publishers, Donates Support Fund for Makinde, Adekanmbi
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Chairman and Sole Administrator of Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), Hon. Dikko Salami, has donated a support fund to the 32 members of the Oyo State Youth Parliament as part of efforts to strengthen youth engagement and mobilise support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition, Oyo State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and other APM candidates.
Salami disclosed this during a meeting with the Speaker of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Oyekola Marvellous Oluwatobi, and other members of the parliament at the PTS headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
According to Salami, “investment in youths is investment in Oyo’s future.”
He explained that the support fund was aimed at fostering strategic partnerships that would advance youth development, promote civic participation and enable the Youth Parliament to implement impactful programmes for young people across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
He added that the initiative was also part of broader political mobilisation efforts to promote continuity in what he described as good governance in Oyo State and at the national level.
“The support is to strengthen institutional collaboration with the Youth Parliament and to ensure that young people remain central to governance. Governor Seyi Makinde has shown unprecedented commitment to youth inclusion, and we must sustain that legacy,” Salami said.
He added that the initiative was also designed to rally support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, Adekanmbi’s governorship bid and other APM candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
“By supporting Governor Makinde at the national level and voting all APM candidates, our youths will continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy. Continuity is key if we want policies that empower young people to survive and thrive,” he said.
The PTS chairman commended Governor Makinde for creating platforms that have strengthened the relevance and functionality of the Oyo State Youth Parliament.
He noted that the administration’s investments in education, transportation, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure had directly benefited young people across the state.
Salami urged members of the Youth Parliament to serve as a bridge between the government and young people, while using the support to promote advocacy, skills acquisition and community development projects.
Some online publishers at the meeting also commended Salami for engaging with media practitioners and youth structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
They said such collaboration would help sensitise the public to government policies and provide voters with information on the programmes and track records of political candidates.
The publishers further described Salami as one of the accessible figures within the Makinde administration for young people, noting that his engagement with the Youth Parliament was part of a series of political consultations and mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
