APM’s Idris Akanbi, Bello Celebrate Consensus Ticket with Thanksgiving Rally in Ibadan South West

There was jubilation in Ibadan South West Local Government on Tuesday as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) consensus chairmanship candidate, Hon. Idris Adewale Akanbi, and his running mate, Hon. Hassan Bello, led party members and traders on a thanksgiving visit to the family compound of the Arole Iba Oluyole, Oloye Nureni Akanbi.

The visit, which turned into a mini rally, attracted hundreds of party faithful, traders, youth groups and community leaders who gathered to celebrate the peaceful emergence of the APM leadership team for the local government.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Akanbi expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde, APM leaders across Oyo State and fellow aspirants who contested for the party’s chairmanship ticket. He said their maturity and commitment to unity made the consensus arrangement possible.

“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his fatherly role and commitment to the development of Oyo State. I also thank our party leaders, elders and all my fellow aspirants. Your support, understanding and dedication to the unity of APM in Ibadan South West are highly commendable,” he said.

Akanbi described the consensus process as proof of the party’s unity and readiness to provide purposeful leadership at the grassroots. He pledged to run an inclusive administration focused on security, market development, youth empowerment and improved welfare for residents of Ibadan South West.

In his remarks, the Arole Iba Oluyole, Oloye Nureni Akanbi, commended Governor Makinde for his commitment to the development of Oyo State. He assured that his family and other stakeholders in Ibadan South West would work towards ensuring the success of the APM in the forthcoming local government elections.

He described Akanbi and Bello as capable, grassroots-oriented leaders who would bring governance closer to the people.

Also speaking, the vice chairmanship candidate, Hon. Hassan Bello, thanked the governor, party leaders and members for their support. He urged party members and aspirants to remain united and work together to secure victory for the APM in the forthcoming local government elections.

Party leaders and traders at the event described the Akanbi-Bello ticket as a balanced team with the capacity and accessibility needed to deliver effective grassroots governance. They pledged to mobilise support for the party in the elections.

The celebration ended with drumming, dancing and chants of solidarity as party members marched through major streets in Ibadan South West Local Government.
