Oyo LGSC Issues 1,535 Promotion Letters To Local Government Workers

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has distributed 1,535 promotion letters to staff members across the 33 local government areas of the state as part of the 2025 promotion exercise.

The promotion letters, covering officers on Grade Levels 06 to 17, were presented to eligible staff in the Commission and across seven departments within the local government service.

The breakdown of beneficiaries shows that 288 officers were promoted in the Administration and General Services Department, 57 in Agriculture and Natural Resources, 40 in Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, 431 in Education and Social Services, 44 in Environmental Health Services, 315 in Finance and Supplies, and 360 in Works, Housing, Lands and Survey.

Presenting the letters on behalf of the Commission, Chairman Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole said the exercise reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to workers’ welfare, motivation and career advancement.

He described the promotions as evidence of the administration’s determination to build a professional, efficient and highly motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality services at the grassroots.

According to Akinwole, the Makinde administration recognises that a motivated workforce is critical to good governance, adding that the prompt release of the promotion letters underscores the governor’s resolve to ensure that hardworking civil servants are duly recognised and rewarded without unnecessary delays.

He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view the advancement as both recognition for their dedication and a call to greater responsibility in serving the people across the state’s local governments.

The chairman also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to regular promotion exercises, continuous capacity development and improved staff welfare in line with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda.

Representatives of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde and the Commission, describing the promotions as a morale booster that would inspire greater commitment and productivity in the local government service.
